To all Mark Master Masons and Royal Ark Mariners who access this website over Christmas, I wish you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas and a New Year which brings hope for us all.
Who would have thought last Christmas that we would only see a couple of months’ worth of Lodge Meetings this year? Who could envisage the many months of lockdowns, social distancing and isolation? Who would have thought that the only way we could keep in touch and get our business done would be by telephone and virtual meetings? I certainly did not.
This year has seen tremendous challenges and great change. Yet through you, the Brethren of West Yorkshire, our Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Freemasonry has survived. We have met those challenges head on, through our newly established Almoner Network, by looking after those brethren and widows most in need, and by keeping in touch by telephone and Zoom meetings.
Please continue to keep in touch with each other, particularly with those who may be alone this Christmas, and with the situation still uncertain I have asked all Lodges to maintain regular contact with members by holding Virtual Lodge Meetings on the dates and time of their Regular Meetings. I really believe that this is essential for the future wellbeing of our Orders.
With news of vaccines on the horizon, let’s all hope that we can then replace those virtual meetings with actual Lodge meetings sooner rather than later in the New Year. That can’t come quickly enough and I look forward to sharing those Mark handshakes again with you soon.
In the meantime, please visit our Virtual Carol Service on this website over Christmas. Sing along with us and join in the fun. It’s all designed to raise a smile in these difficult times.
Finally, thank you all for your continued support this year. It really has been appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2021 and extend my very best wishes to you and your families over the Festive Season.
Keep safe and well – and God Bless you all
