Thank you to all the Lodges, Brethren and individuals who together sponsored the West Yorkshire MBF Walk team for an AMAZING amount exceeding £43,000.
The Province was proud to field its team of walkers in London on 6th May to follow the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial route for 7 miles through four Royal London Parks. But it is even more proud of the staggering amount this raised for the Mark Benevolent Fund and all its worthy causes. Most of the sponsorship was also channelled through the ‘Walk’ web site portal to be gift aided and count towards our West Yorkshire 2023 MBF Festival.
The ‘Walkers’ wish to thank everyone in the Province who donated personally to the Walk or who gave encouragement or help in any way towards its tremendous success. We also wish to thank the Province of North and East Yorkshire for asking their own Walk team sponsors to allocate their donations to our Festival, and the Province of Cumberland and Westmoreland for splitting their sponsorships equally between the East Lancashire 2021 and West Yorkshire 2023 Festivals.
The ‘Walkers’ were Richard Puttrell our Deputy PGM, John Fred Clough our Past Assistant PGM, John Vause our Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, Paul Clark representing the Craft, Chris Oldfield our Walk organiser and myself. Philip Oldfield also walked part of the way with us to provide ‘refreshments’ and the occasional bit of ‘carrot or stick’ when one of us was flagging !!
At the end of the walk, John Vause carried me over the finishing line and back into Mark Masons’ Hall using a ‘firemen’s lift’. A fitting end to a superb effort and an excellent day. The Walk has been yet another magnificent achievement by West Yorkshire Brethren, supported by their friends and families. Well done to you all.
The Donation web site portal will now remain open until the end of May, so if anyone still wishes to add to the tremendous amount already raised its not too late.
