On 16 March 2016, at Brighouse Craft Lodge No 1301, our Past Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Brian Morris Batty celebrated a magnificent 50 years in Craft Freemasonry. W.Bro. John B. Gledhill, Assistant Provincial Grand Master of the Craft Province of Yorkshire West Riding was in attendance to congratulate R.W.Bro. Brian and present him with his 50 year Certificate.
It was an excellent evening, with R.W.Bro. Brian reminiscing on his Freemasonry, his Business achievements and his family in open Lodge before the presentation was made, followed by a delightful festive board and fellowship downstairs. Brian was Initiated into Brighouse 1301 in 1966 by his late father, W.Bro. Leonard Batty and held the chair of the Lodge himself in 1980. He is now one of the most senior Past Masters of the Lodge and currently holds the rank of P.A.G.D.C. The current Worshipful Master, W.Bro. George Reay, led the proceedings of the evening and is shown here with R.W.Bro. Brian and W.Bro. John Gledhill.
Many of Brian’s friends, including many Mark Masons were present to help him to celebrate, including the Provincial Grand Master and all other surviving Past Provincial Grand Masters for the Mark Province of West Yorkshire. A rare occasion when they are all able to be together. R.W.Bro. Brian was Provincial Grand Master from 1999 to 2007, previous to which he held office as Deputy and Assistant Provincial Grand Master and Provincial Grand Secretary. He was a member of the Provincial Executive for over 23 years and helped lay many of the foundations we see in the Mark Province today.
R.W.Bro. Brian will celebrate 50 years in the Mark on 13 October 2019, and what a celebration that occasion is likely to be.
