Season’s Greetings from the Provincial Grand Master

To all Mark Master Masons and Royal Ark Mariners who access this web site over the festive season, I thank you all for your tremendous support during 2015 and wish you and your families a very merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous, but above all a healthy and successful New Year.

2015 has been a busy year, with our new Deputy and Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, W.Bro’s. Richard Puttrell and Dr Rod Taylor completing their first year in Office. We have enjoyed six Escorted Visits and attended many of your Lodge Installation meetings, and on each occasion we have been greeted with tremendous warmth and hospitality. I thank all the Lodges concerned for their welcome, loyalty and support.

Our Annual Provincial Meeting in April was attended by the Deputy Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Keith Emmerson, and was once again a tremendous success. I thank all the Brethren and Ladies who organised the event and worked so hard on the day. I also thank the Carl Whitehead Lodge for hosting our Provincial Grand Royal Ark Mariner Assembly in October. But most of all I thank all those who attended these meetings to support myself and the Province. It is so much appreciated.

We also held two very successful Ladies Sunday Luncheons, two Musical Evenings, a Christmas Fayre and our annual Carol Service during the year. Our Charity, the Cleeves and Whitehead Trust held two Almoners’ Lunches and once again organised a holiday in Llandudno. Our golfers even won back the Ridings Golf Trophy in their annual match against North and East Yorkshire – wonderful news indeed.

I thank all the Brethren who contributed so much to the Province during 2015. My Co-Rulers, our Past Rulers, the Secretarial and Director of Ceremonies teams, the Installed Masters’ Associations, the Provincial Social Committee, John Whitworth for his Musical Evenings, the 250 Club, the Cleeves and Whitehead Trust, our Grand and Provincial Grand Officers, our golfers, and the Masters, Wardens, Officers and Brethren of all Lodges in the Province. Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Freemasonry could not have be the success it was during the year without you.

We now look forward to the launch of our Mark Benevolent Fund Festival next year and I am sure that the same enthusiasm will lead to an astounding Festival success for the Province when its Festival concludes in 2023. In the meantime I look forward to working with you all again in 2016, and to serving this wonderful Province of West Yorkshire for many years to come.

My compliments of the season to you all.

Jim Steggles
Provincial Grand Master
