Two draws are held each year, one at the Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge in April at Bradford, and one at the meeting of the Carl Whitehead Lodge of Royal Ark Mariner No. 110 which hosts the Annual Assembly of the Provincial Grand Royal Ark Mariner at Tapton Hall. The Spring Draw was undertaken on 11 April at Bradford Grammar School before the Annual General meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge. A number of the ‘Lucky People’ were present on the day to receive their good fortune in hand; the remainder had their cheques posted to them by the Club’s Co-ordinator.
The 3 main prizes, of £250 each, were joyfully received by W.Bro. Lance Milburn, W.Bro. Bob Baker and W.Bro. George Crofts, congratulations to you all. Sadly none of the Brethren were either present or available for a photo shoot, but W.Bros Colin Bullock and Geoff Wilson were.
At this draw, £1,250 was distributed in prize money with the same amount going to the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of West Yorkshire. Three prizes of £250, 3 of £100 and 4 of £50, Total £1,250. The amount paid out is intended to be 50% of the contributions and can, therefore, vary. I am advised that, at the present moment of time, there are approximately 435 numbers issued to 325 Brethren but there are more applications in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, the 250 Club has achieved its initial objective which was to purchase the Anniversary Button, they have now moved on to the refurbishment of Provincial furnishing and regalia, the Provincial Sword has already been restored and, I understand, the refurbished Banner should be delivered shortly. There are some smaller items of Provincial Regalia also requiring attention and the Mark 250 Club Committee thank all those who are presently supporting them.
The focus will change to the Sesquicentennial Celebrations in 2021 and thereafter to the 2023 Festival – where a Committee has already been formed under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Richard Boswell Puttrell. Can I encourage all Brethren; if you already have tickets, perhaps you could afford another one or two? Currently there are only 21% of Mark Master Masons in the Province who support the 250 Club, which bearing in mind that we are members of an organisation that prides itself on charitable objects is not really good enough. If you agree and are not involved at the present time, please consider a couple of tickets, only £20 per annum and a chance to win much more, I leave it with you.
As always, be happy and enjoy your Mark Masonry.
