The 33rd Annual General Meeting of the Bradford and District Installed Masters Association was held on Wednesday 13 May at Bingley Masonic Hall.
The meeting was opened by the President, Worshipful Brother Edward Wilkinson who welcomed the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother James Steggles who was joined by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother Richard Boswell Puttrell and the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother Dr. Rod Taylor.
The Brethren were first asked to remember Worshipful Brother Alec Shutt who, since the last meeting, had been called to the Grand Lodge above.
Unfortunately I could not be present and I have relied upon the assistance given by the Secretary, Worshipful Brother Tony Breckon. He dealt with the Minutes of the last meeting, apologises received, and then read out his report for the year but he assures me that I would not want to hear it, and therefore neither can you! A very generous donation of £400 was presented to the Cleeves and Whitehead Trust with a further £100 towards the cost of the Provincial Year Book.
The President then invested his successor, the new Team being:
President W. Bro. Clive Hawkins
Senior Vice President, W. Bro. Andrew M Johnson
(sadly absent, due to a shoulder problem, hope that he is O.K. now)
Junior Vice President, W .Bro. David Howe
To approbation but general surprise, the Secretary and assistant Secretary also retained their positions.
An address was then presented by Worshipful Brother Andrew Brown on the ‘Forget Me Not’ which was enthusiastically received. The date for the Annual Meeting in 2016 was set for 11 May at Haworth and a Sunday Lunch for, provisionally, 6 March 2016 at Cleckheaton
R.W.Bro. James Steggles then spoke to the meeting, saying that he was delighted to be attending and congratulated the President, his Deputy and Assistant as well as the Secretariat on their appointments. He also thanked the Immediate Past President, W.Bro. Edward on his hard work throughout the year. He then remarked that he had been pleased to see members of the Bradford Association at the Leeds Association evening at Otley and reminded Brethren that it was important for Masters of Mark Lodges to visit other Lodges during their year; also to encourage Brethren to attend Association visits and the Annual General Meeting. Finally he mentioned that the West Yorkshire 2023 Mark Benevolent Fund Festival will be launched next year and asked the Brethren to support it with ideas for Fundraising wherever possible.
A good evening was had by all, smile, be happy and enjoy your Mark Masonry.
W.Bro. D. Smith P.G.S.D., P.Prov.G.J.W.
