The thirty third Annual General Meeting of the Bradford and District Installed Masters Association was held on Wednesday, 14 May at Spring Bank Place, Bradford.
The meeting was opened by the President, W.Bro. Michael Prodywus, who welcomed all present but particularly the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother James Steggles, and the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother John Fred Clough. W.Bro. Michael spoke of his year in office which, sadly, had been affected by illness but emphasised that it had been a great privilege and honour to represent the Association. A successful barbecue had been held at the Ukrainian Club which is now to be the venue for the Provincial Family Garden Party on Sunday, 29 June.
The President then invested his successor and the new Team being:
- President W.Bro. R Edward Wilkinson
- Senior Vice President, W.Bro. Clive Hawkins.
- Junior Vice President, W.Bro. Andrew M Johnson
The perceptive amongst you will have notice that the ‘Ant and Dec’ of Mark Masonry are again joined together, our thoughts and prayers are with W.Bro. Clive but I know that the Bradford Association will have a year to savour with this team in harness.
The meeting was then addressed by Bro. Duncan Bryan, previously from St. David Tarb Mauchline No. 133 of the Scottish Constitution. Bro. David was advanced into Old York TI in March at the Escorted visit which he reflected upon. He then entertained with stories of his visits, work related, to some of the more unsavoury locations around the globe. Whilst in Istanbul, he had been commanded by an imposing man in military garb, complete with gun, to go with him. He was then taken around the City, enjoying the sights, to find that his Host was the Governor of Istanbul whose Grandfather had been rescued by a Scottish Regiment and this was his way of saying thank you. There were other stories which were most interesting, thank you Bro. Bryan.
The Provincial Grand Master then addressed the meeting, congratulating W.Bro. Edward and his team and trusting that they would have an enjoyable year. He thanked W.Bro. Michael for his commitment over the past twelve months, particularly the barbecue which was much enjoyed. The annual meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge had been a success and he had been very grateful for the hard work put in by the Stewards provided by the Huddersfield, Halifax and Districts Association and that it was important to raise the profile of this important duty. He encouraged the Brethren to support their Associations visits as this also assisted the weaker Lodges and that Worshipful Masters of the year should also see it a priority to ensure that they attend Association visits as well as Installations.
One Installed Masters Association Annual General Meeting remains; that for the Leeds and District to be held in Ripon on 17 July, I am confident that this will be well attended and look forward to seeing you there, particularly Representatives from the other Associations.
A most enjoyable evening was had by all.
Smile, be happy and enjoy your Mark Masonry.
W. Bro. Duncan Smith P.G.S.D.
