In presenting the certificates, R.W.Bro. Steggles gave a retrospect of the progress R.W.Bro. Morley had made in the Order since joining Fearnley Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners in 1959, including his appointment to Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank in 1983 and his service as our Provincial Grand Master from 1989 to 1994. He was also a Founder Member of two Royal Ark Mariner Lodges, including the Carl Whitehead Lodge of Installed Commanders No 110, a former President of the Huddersfield Halifax and Districts Installed Masters’ Association and a member of the Mark Charity Executive for 12 years, serving as its Chairman in 1987 and 1988. R.W.Bro. Morley is also a Honorary member of no less that 19 Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Lodges in this Province.

R.W.Bro. Steggles went on to give a brief summary of R.W.Bro. Morley’s service in the Royal Navy, where he served on HMS Cleveland, a Hunt Class Destroyer, in the Second World War and his very successful business career.

In summing up the Provincial Grand Master described R.W.Bro. Morley as “a gentleman, through and through. A gentle man, an elegant man, a courteous man, a kind and charitable man, and a man much loved and revered by us all”.

R.W.Bro. Morley is married to Peggy and last year they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Long may that and R.W.Bro. Morley’s enjoyment of Royal Ark Mariner Freemasonry in this Province continue.
