On Friday 25th March 2011 after many months of hard work and planning Britannia Lodge of Mark Master Masons celebrated their 150th anniversary at Tapton Hall Sheffield in an excellent manner.
The Provincial Grand Master accepted the gavel from W.Bro. Nicholas D Jacques the W.M. thanked him, and said he was delighted to be there on this special occasion. He then requested his Provincial Officers to take up their posts in the Lodge.
R.W. Bro. Benjamin Addy the Deputy Grand Master accompanied by V.W.Bro. Simon Andrew Mighall Deputy Grand Secretary then entered the Lodge. The Deputy Grand Master assumed the chair and proceeded to rule the Lodge for no less than four items on the agenda.
The Deputy Grand Master stated that he was delighted to be present on this auspicious occasion and that he had fond memories of Sheffield.
Extracts from the consecration meeting held on January 21st 1861 were read by Bro. Sydney Parke, Britannia’s newest candidate, followed by a short history of the Lodge compiled and read by W.Bro. Terry Kirkwood.
A Sesquicentenary Warrant was presented to the Worshipful Master by the Deputy Grand Master R.W.Bro. Benjamin Addy, who went on to present the members of the Lodge with their Sesquicentenary Jewels.
