Over 100 of West Yorkshire’s brethren made the trip to Grand Lodge by train and car; the majority on the East Coast train that called at Leeds, Wakefield and Doncaster for a duration of just over two hours to King’s Cross.
On arrival at Grand Lodge, the splendour of which we had only ever seen before in pictures was everything we had hoped it would be. When we entered the Temple, which is absolutely magnificent, we chose the balcony seats to enable us to have a good view of the entire proceedings.
The entry of Prince Michael of Kent, our Grand Master, has to be seen as one of the most grandiose occasions it has been our privilege to witness, as was the whole of the ceremony including the Worshipful Brethren receiving first appointments or promotions from West Yorkshire.
After dining at either the Freemasons Arms or the Connaught Rooms, we returned to King’s Cross for the journey home. Here we enjoyed the company of our Rulers which can only endorse the reason the Mark Degree the ‘Friendly Degree’.
All this for around £60.00 – what a bargain.
For your information, West Yorkshire had the largest representation ever this year, and if you wish to participate next year, book early for Tuesday, 7th June 2011.
