The last Mark Lodge to be consecrated in our Province was Aireferry Lodge No. 1769 in Goole on 2nd March 1996.
After a request by the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother James Bennett Truswell, to investigate the need for a Mark and a Royal Ark Mariner daylight Lodge, Right Worshipful Brother Brian Morris Batty, Past Provincial Grand Master and Very Worshipful Brother Brian Addy adopted the proposal and identified a desire from Brethren for such Lodges to be formed within the Province.
On Wednesday 23rd September 2009 the initiative was fulfilled and the Consecration of Morley Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1905 took place at Blenheim House, Batley. Morley Lodge is the first daylight Lodge and its meetings will commence at 11.00am with the specific advantage for Brethren who find travelling in the evening difficult and ideally located for all the Brethren of the Province.
The Provincial Grand Master accompanied by his Consecrating team in the presence of 26 Founders, many Distinguished guests and Brethren witnessed an excellent ceremony and occasion. The Provincial Grand Chaplain delivered an excellent Oration, very apt for the ceremony, Mark Masonry in general and Morley Lodge in particular.
Right Worshipful Brother George Henry Philip Birch, Past Provincial Grand Master, was installed as the first Worshipful Master by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother James Steggles. With the Worshipful Master’s guidance and the commitment of the Founders and Brethren of this new Mark Lodge the foundation is surely laid to enable it to prosper and flourish for generations.
Craft Masons are especially welcome to join the Lodge and existing Mark Masons to become joining Members. You can register your interest using the website’s ‘contact us’ link or email to firstname.lastname@example.org
