Christmas Fayre 2009

A free Bouncy Castle, splat the rat, Father Christmas Grotto with a real Father Christmas and a free gift and this was just for the children, for the adults a whole range of interests including a hockling game, choice homemade products such as cakes, buns, biscuits, toffee, jams, marmalade as well as a flower stall, an art stall, a book stall (hundreds of books!!) jigsaws, a tinned food stall and many others, together with a rolling raffle and at 2.00 pm the brass band arrived to entertain with a selection of carols.

Altogether a splendid afternoon much enjoyed by all including the Provincial Grand Master, his Deputy and his Assistant together with their wives and all for just £1.00.

Many thanks to all those who contributed to making it such a success.

SYAIM Sunday Lunch November 2009

The SYAIM Sunday Lunch was held at the Masonic Hall, Zetland Street, Wakefield and was well supported.

The meal was excellent and there was a lovely friendly atmosphere. Guests were able to sit and chat in the lodge rooms where live background music was provided prior to the meal.

The event certainly seemed to live up to the warm friendly reputation that the Mark Order has.

Thank you to all who came along and supported the event, thank you to the team from Integrity who did a sterling job looking after us, and thank you to their Chef.

To all Mark Masons and their partners please come along and support the Associations next two Social events:

  • 26th February, The Presidents Ball
  • 6th June, Sunday Lunch

Worth Mark Lodge No. 727 celebrate its 500th meeting

To commemorate this occasion a Past Master Board, will be unveiled at the festive board and a short ‘potted history’ distributed. It is hoped that brethren from the surrounding lodges will support us in observing this unique occasion and come along to enjoy ‘Worth’ hospitality and the installation of our new Worshipful Master. Brethren wishing to book a meal, please contact W. Bro David Howe.

Some fourteen of the original brethren are seen here enjoying a cigar. How times have changed! Off picture the brethren’s ‘trilby’ hats lay scattered, but in the middle we see ‘one gallant soul’, proudly sporting his flat cap. Could he have been the Worshipful Master, asserting his position?

Halifax Lodge No. 706 Escorted Visit

Having assembled the provincial team in the corridor, our Provincial Grand Master, R.W Bro J B Truswell, thanked all the officers for their attendance on what proved to be a bad night for driving along the M62 due to a tailback of vehicles for six miles.

After the Lodge had conducted their business, the provincial team under the direction of W Bro S Littlewood formed an escort for R.W Bro Truswell. Once salutations had been given and received, W Bro Lowe offered the gavel to our PGM who accepted it on behalf of the province, only to return it to him, thanking him most sincerely.

It being Remembrance Day, a minute’s silence was observed to honour the fallen.

The next item was to advance Bro A N Watts of the Ryburn Lodge No 1283. For both the Halifax Lodge and Bro Watts, the presence of our PGM and his team made this a special evening. W Bro D Ross, who had entertained us through most of the ceremony and who had proposed Bro Watts into Mark Masonry, named and explained the working tools to his candidate. Also on the evening, our PGM presented two Grand Lodge Certificates to Bro G Mallinson and Bro M Boyes.

At the festive board, we enjoyed a good hearty meal and the newly advanced Bro Watts thanked his proposer, W Bro Ross, and said that he now knew why Mark Masonry was known as ‘The Friendly Degree’.
